Pre Summer Week Assignments

Here's your first set of assignments for Virtual Summer School 2014.

Compass Learning:
You should see a folder in both your Math and Language Arts folders titled "VSS2014_# Pre-Summer Due June 19".  You can earn 5 points for completing the math folder and another 5 points for completing the language arts folder.  The folder will disappear from your account once it's completed.  This is how you can tell that you have done everything.  If you do not see these folders, it probably means that you have not signed up for Virtual Summer School.  Have your parents sign up using the online sign up form link on the right side of this blog.

Reading:
You can earn up to 5 points for completing this week's reading assignment.  You can find the reading passage under the "Weekly Reading Forms" section on the right of the blog.
You can also begin submitting Reading Tracker Forms for any books that you read from now on.  The link to the form is on the right side of this blog.  You can also find out how many points you can earn for submitting books by looking at the "How To Earn Points" section to the right.

Writing:
***What is your favorite memory from this school year?***  Write about your favorite memory from this school year.

Grade 2 Expectations: Be sure to include lots of details (What happened? What were you thinking while it was happening?  How were you feeling?) - Second graders should be completing this assignment on a piece of paper and submitting to Mr. Rand by the end of the school year (June 16th).

Grade 3 Expectations: Create a SHARED google document titled "My Favorite Memory" - Be sure to include lots of details (What happened? Who was there? What were you thinking and feeling?) - Be sure that your events are placed in order of how they happened.  Try using dialogue (people talking) in your writing.  Make sure you include a concluding sentence. (Due June 19th)

Grades 4 & 5 Expectations: Create a SHARED google document titled "My Favorite Memory" - Begin with an introduction paragraph to introduce your characters and setting.  Use lots of details in order for me to know what happened, who was there, what you were thinking/feeling, etc...  Use some dialogue (people talking) in your writing.  Make sure you use some interesting words to make your story interesting.  Include a conclusion to wrap your story up. (Due June 19th)

After you complete your work I will update your Communication Document with your point totals for the week (grades 3-5 only).  If you do not have a Communication Document that I've shared with you, it probably means that you are not yet registered for Virtual Summer School.  Have a parent sign up using the Sign-Up Link on the right of this blog.
