Compass Learning
Don't forget to make sure you're doing the assignments marked with VSS.  Your week 5 assignments have been posted.

Reading
Let's get those reading tracker numbers up.  We want to get 1,000 books submitted with all Virtual Summer School students this summer, so we have some work to do!

HERE'S YOUR BONUS POINT OPPORTUNITY.  ALL WEEK 5 READING PASSAGES ARE WORTH UP TO 10 POINTS INSTEAD OF JUST 5 THIS WEEK ONLY.  THAT'S DOUBLE POINTS FOR THE WEEKLY READING PASSAGE, SO OPEN IT UP AND DO YOUR BEST!

Writing
Here's your week 5 writing prompt... Write a summer themed acrostic poem.  An acrostic is a poem that has spells a word going down the left side of the page and each line includes at least one word that starts with each letter of the word your chose.  For example, I could do an acrostic poem using the word SUN and it might look like this...

Sweltering
Uncomfortable to stare at
Nice and warm

2nd Grade Expectations - Write at least one summer themed acrostic poem.  You could use the word SUN or SUMMER or BEACH or SWIMMING or something else that has to do with summer.

3rd Grade Expectations - Write at least two summer themed acrostic poems.  You can use some of the examples I listed above, or come up with some of your own.

4th and 5th Grade Expectations - Create a google presentation of summer themed acrostic poems.  You should have a title slide, then at least 3 other slides with a different summer acrostic poem on each one.  Challenge yourself to write sentences for each line instead of just one word.
